§ 01 · Contribute

Small gifts,
great resilience.

ESRF.net is sustained by the European community it serves. Donations are accepted exclusively from organisations and individuals within Europe and from members of the ESRF.net network. This is how the foundation is funded — and how you can be part of it.

§ 02 · The idea

Many small
donations, one strong foundation.

Collective funding for collective resilience.

Stichting ESRF European Security and Resilience Fund is a not-for-profit foundation. It does not sell listings, charge membership fees, or accept pay-to-rank arrangements. The directory is — and will remain — a public good.

To cover its operating costs, ESRF.net is funded through three channels: minimal, non-intrusive advertising (via Google AdSense), voluntary donations from the European community, and corporate sponsorships. Advertising revenue helps keep the lights on; donations and sponsorships fund the growth and editorial independence of the network.

The foundation relies on a broad base of small contributions from within Europe and the ESRF.net network. The principle is simple: if many organisations and individuals each give a little, the network becomes self-sustaining without depending on any single donor. By accepting donations only from European sources and network members, the foundation safeguards its independence and ensures the framework serves the community it was built for.

One donation is a gesture. A thousand donations are a movement.
European contributions only. To preserve the independence and European character of the framework, the foundation accepts donations exclusively from organisations and individuals based in Europe, and from members of the ESRF.net network.

Every euro contributed goes to maintaining the atlas, curating the directory, publishing the Dispatch, and expanding the reach of the network across 29 European countries. There are no hidden overheads — transparency is the only policy.

§ 03 · Where it goes

Transparent by principle.

Every contribution to the foundation is allocated across four pillars of operation. No funds go to shareholder returns — there are none.

§ 04 · Ways to contribute

Every form
of support counts.

Financial, practical, or simply spreading the word.

One-time donation

A single contribution of any amount. Whether it is €5 or €500 — every donation is recorded transparently and channelled directly into the network's operations. No amount is too small.

Recurring monthly gift

A modest recurring contribution — even €2 per month — provides the foundation with predictable income. Predictability allows planning: more languages, more countries, better tools. Recurring donors are acknowledged in the annual transparency report.

Corporate sponsorship

Organisations seeking a deeper partnership can explore our sponsorship tiers — Founding Patron, Programme Partner, or Community Supporter. Sponsorships are disclosed transparently and never influence editorial decisions.

In-kind contributions

Not every contribution is monetary. Translation help, data verification, editorial input, or technical expertise — the community's skills are the network's greatest asset. Contact us if you would like to contribute your time or expertise.

Spread the word

Share ESRF.net with colleagues, partners, and networks. Every new listing, every new reader, every shared article strengthens the community. Visibility is a form of contribution.

§ 05 · What your donation enables

Small numbers, real impact.

€ 5

Covers the hosting cost of one country page for a month.

€ 25

Funds the editorial review and verification of five new listings.

€ 100

Sustains the Dispatch bulletin for one edition — research, writing, and distribution.

€ 500

Enables the translation of the entire platform into one additional European language.

§ 06 · Transparency

Open books,
open doors.

Every euro accounted for, every decision disclosed.

Stichting ESRF European Security and Resilience Fund publishes an annual transparency report detailing all income, expenditures, and allocation decisions. The foundation is registered in the Netherlands and subject to Dutch non-profit governance law.

No individual donor — however generous — is granted editorial influence. The separation between funding and editorial is absolute: contributors fund the infrastructure, the editorial team guards the independence. This is not a policy; it is the reason the network exists.

§ 07 · Make a contribution
